The 13th China International Pharmaceutical Industry Exhibition (CHINA-PHARM 2008), jointly organized by the China Center for Pharmaceutical International Exchange (CCPIE) and Messe Duesseldorf (China), will be held at the China International Exhibition Center, Beijing from 12 to 14 November 2008. |

Supported by some of the world’s most prestigious organizations in the pharmaceutical packaging and machinery sectors, including the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), the International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council (IPEC), the VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association and the British Processing and Packaging Machinery Association (PPMA), the CHINA-PHARM 2008 attracts a large number of world renowned companies from the pharmaceutical machinery, pharmaceutical packaging materials and equipment, pharmaceutical excipients as well as medicine inspection equipment sectors.

PHARM has developed into one of the most recognized professional trade shows in the global pharmaceutical industry. The exhibition, which serves as a platform for communications and cooperation, provides exhibitors worldwide with extensive information and unparalleled opportunities to look for new business and expand into new markets.
It also plays an instrumental role in facilitating the implementation of GMP standards in Chinese pharmaceutical firms. In addition, CHINA-PHARM is the country’s only professional exhibition of its kind to receive the UFI certificate.
On 14 October, the organizers hosted a press conference in Beijing to preview some highlights of the exhibition:
World-class professional sessions and exciting technology workshops
During this year’s CHINA-PHARM, the CCPIE will work with ISPE and IPEC to present the ISPE-CCPIE China Conference 2008 and the International Pharmaceutical Excipients Symposium, respectively. In addition, approximately 10 technology workshops will come on stream during the three-day exhibition.

State-of-the-art equipment and tech- nologies
A series of sophisticated equipment and technologies, from a high-speed blister packaging device, innovative on-line inspection technology, to an electronic labeling technology and an automated integration system, will be showcased at the exhibition.
In the last few decades, China’s pharmaceutical sector has experienced explosive growth, with gross production value jumping to RMB 667.9 billion, or approximately US$ 97.7 billion, in 2007 from RMB 137.1 billion, or approximately US$ 16.7 billion (at the exchange rate in place at the time), in 1998. The export and import values of pharmaceutical goods and services also grew to US$ 24.6 billion and US$ 14 billion in 2007, respectively.
