Asymchem Laboratories establish new facility in Tianjin

U.S. based Asymchem Laboratories Inc. has agreed to spend RMB300 million, or approximately US$41 million, setting up a new pharmaceutical facility in Dagang Development Zone, Tianjin, China.
Construction of the new facility will commence at the beginning of next year. Covering an area of approximately 100,000 square meters, the project will consist of two phases, and anticipates research and analysis centers, cGMP-compliant and non-cGMP plants, power supply equipment, as well as wastewater treatment and supporting facilities. The US$41 million pharmaceutical facility will specialize in the
development, production and commercialization of synthetic pharmaceutical raw materials and intermediates. Construction of the new facility will commence at the beginning of next year.
The development of pharmaceutical raw materials related to the fermentation of bacteria optimized with genetic engineering, bio-pharmaceutical raw materials based on enzyme chemistry. Furthermore, the research and development of new and innovative technologies related to diagnostic reagents; as well as the provision of relevant technical consulting services will be incorporated. The new facility
is scheduled for operation at the end of 2009. With the investment, Asymchem Laboratories expects to construct a world-class biopharmaceutical industry research center employing more than 100 experienced scientists and researchers, and state-of-the-art cGMP production workshops of active pharmaceutical ingredients in compliance with FDA rules and regulations.
